About Jennifer L. McGhan and McGhan Law, LLC
Born in Orlando, Florida, I grew up your typical “Navy Brat,” and come from a long line of Navy and Marine veterans. Being the spouse of a disabled Army veteran, I also understand the caveats of the military family life. As a result, I have extensive knowledge and experience in military family issues, as well as interstate custody disputes under the Uniform Child Custody Jurisdiction and Enforcement Act (UCCJEA).
Most of my family practice is centered around parents who are facing some type of denial of visitation. I help parents retain visitation rights or get full custody so that they can enjoy being a part of their children’s lives. Without exception, I believe that both parents should be able to participate in the growth and development of their children without hindrance from the other parent and I will battle on your behalf to make sure that happens.
I came into this profession knowing that I wanted to be approachable and I wanted to be available to my clients. As a result, we do things a little differently at my firm. We don’t keep traditional 9-5 office hours. I want to be available to my clients when my clients are available, which is typically after regular working hours and on the weekends. Who wants to miss work and lose pay to go see a lawyer? Nobody. You can schedule appointments with me from my website, whether its just a phone call, or an in-office meeting. If you need a lawyer at 11:00 p.m., I’m your girl. Just give me at least a 15-minute heads up, just in case I’m having a midnight snack.
Obviously I attended college, so here’s some information in case you’re interested: I received my Bachelor’s Degree in Legal Studies in 2010. I then received my Juris Doctorate in 2013; graduating cum laude from Thomas M. Cooley Law School in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
I am member of the State Bar of Georgia and the Florida State Bar. I am registered neutral in the State of Georgia, where I perform both general civil and domestic relations mediations. I am also a guardian ad litem, representing the best interests of children throughout the State of Georgia.
When I am not tirelessly advocating for my fabulous clients, I enjoy traveling (mostly to New Orleans) and spending time with my husband and three wild and crazy daughters.
If you’re looking for an attorney that makes you feel like the only person in the room, even if you are in a crowd of hundreds, you’ve come to the right place. If you have concerns about your legal issues, my staff and I will always take the time to talk to you and give you an honest assessment of where things stand.
The firm practices in the areas of family law, civil law, criminal defense, personal injury, contract and business law, employment law, and mediation.
